Liab Duan Night Market
Also known as “Talad Liab Duan – The Happy Avenue,” is one of Bangkok’s most vibrant local night markets, popular for its vast selection of street food, affordable shopping, and laid-back atmosphere. For Muslim visitors, there are several stalls offering halal-friendly dishes such as grilled chicken, kebabs, roti, and seafood freshly prepared without pork or alcohol in the cooking process. The market is also famous for its seafood platters—prawns, crabs, mussels, and fish cooked Thai-style, often served with spicy dipping sauces. Those with a sweet tooth will find plenty of Thai desserts like mango sticky rice, crepes, coconut ice cream, and bingsu (Korean shaved ice). To wash it all down, there’s a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks, including Thai milk tea, fruit smoothies, iced coffee, and herbal drinks, perfect for cooling off in Bangkok’s warm evenings.

Shopping at Liab Duan is a major attraction in itself. The market is lined with small boutiques and stalls selling trendy fashion items, accessories, handmade crafts, home décor, and vintage collectibles, all at reasonable prices. Unlike the more touristy markets, Liab Duan maintains a local charm, where most visitors are Bangkokians looking for a chill night out.
The decoration of the market is casual and creative, with repurposed shipping containers, colorful lights, and open-air seating areas that create a festive but comfortable vibe. For entertainment, there are live bands, casual bar zones (which visitors can avoid if they prefer), and sometimes small performances or games, making it a lively yet family-friendly destination that perfectly captures Bangkok’s local night market culture.
